How New York inspired Dubai to dream 'tall'

Dubai - His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said the inspiration of dreaming 'tall' came from his visit to New York in the 1960s.

Taking over the sky one notch at a time, Dubai is bracing for yet another record-breaker - an iconic tower set to be even taller than the tallest building in the world. 
Emaar Properties announced plans of 'The Tower' worth $1 billion due to open by the time Dubai hosts the World Expo in 2020. 
Burj Khalifa is the tallest building in the world and its height goes up to 828 metres. 
Emaar Properties Chairman Mohamed Alabbar said that the new observation tower would be "a notch" taller than the Burj Khalifa.

His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, said the inspiration of dreaming 'tall' came from his visit to New York in the 1960s. 
He took to Twitter to share a photo of him with his late father Shaikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum atop New York's tallest skyscraper Empire State Building. 
In his tweet, Shaikh Mohammed said: "With my father in New York during the 1960s. Atop the Empire State building the highest skyscraper in the world. And the beginning of a dream turned reality in Dubai."

Then as he tweeted a picture of the "The Tower", he mentioned: "We have the tallest structure in the world, the Burj Khalifa, and now Dubai Holding and Emaar Properties have launched a structure higher than the Burj Khalifa... Time will only add more towards our dreams."
