Next time you step out of your car even briefly, don't leave its doors unlocked and park it in an authorised parking slot. Those prowlers out there might be watching your movement and planning to steal your car or decamp with the valuables kept in it.
The Sharjah Police have launched a special campaign to curb auto thefts as well as theft of valuables from cars. It is being run by the media and public relations department of the Sharjah Police in collaboration with police stations, community police and traffic and patrols department to raise public awareness on the issue.
Colonel Arif Bin Hudaib, director of media and public relations department, said that the drive would be carried out for four days during which brochures - spelling out precautions to protect your car and contents kept in it from thieves - would be distributed to motorists in Arabic, English, and Urdu.

Here are some tips:

1: It is best not to leave valuables in the car
2: Never leave the car running and unattended
3: Park the car in a well-lit area
 4: Use authorised parking slots
5: Close windows and lock the doors
6: Keep track of your car keys
To report any suspicious behaviour to police, report on toll free number 901 (for non-emergencies), and 800151 (Najeed Service), or via www.shjpolice.gov.ae/najeed
