The special occasion is expected to fall either on May 23 or May 24 depending on the sighting of the moon. The first day of Eid Al Fitr will be announced on Friday night, after the moon-sighting committee meets remotely. If the crescent is sighted, the following day will be the first of Shawwal, marking the Eid Al Fitr festival.
With Eid around the corner, mosques across the UAE will remain closed and the Takbeer, which is chanted before the special prayers performed on Eid, will be broadcast from mosques 10 minutes before the prayer time.

Precautionary measures have been imposed across the country to limit the spread of Covid-19 virus and safeguard public health and safety. The ministry called upon the public to adhere to health guidelines and instructions from the relevant authorities, particularly concerning social distancing, for the sake of the health and safety of all.
They called on everyone to welcome Eid with joy and positivity and to stay connected with their loved ones via social media.
