An Indian cleaner was cleared by the Court of First Instance of a molestation charge after a woman had accused him of groping her at workplace.
The incident, as told by the Filipina complainant, happened on May 15 at the company where she worked in Al Rafaa.
The 34-year-old cleaner earlier pleaded not guilty to the charge at the court. He claimed during the investigation that his elbow touched her chest by mistake.
The 28-year-old woman, who works as an accountant, told the prosecutor that she was at work at 9.30pm on the day of the incident. "I went to the ninth floor to bring my purse and laptop but I found the door closed. I asked the cleaner about the key."
The accused came and opened the door for her. "He entered the office with me. However, I was surprised when he sexually harassed me by touching me," she said.
She said she stepped away from him and asked him why he did that. He told her he was sorry.
A police corporal said they arrested the cleaner following the woman's complaint :"He claimed he touched her chest with his elbow by mistake while they were in the office".
