The makers of 'Wrong No.' are all set to release their film this weekend in the UAE. The cast and crew of this Pakistani slapstick comedy came down to the Khaleej Times office on Thursday to promote their film.
"I am playing the female lead in the film. My character Laila is a fun-loving, outspoken girl who is in love with the main character. Wrong No released in Pakistan during Eid and it is still going full house. I am over-whelmed by the response so far," said Sohai Ali Abro, describing her character in the film.
The lead actor Danish Taimoor who comes from a television and modeling background sounded equally excited.
"I have a double role in the film. I cannot talk much about the movie, but I am sure audiences will love my character and the film."
Revival of Pakistani cinema
After years of dry spell, Pakistani movies are finally pulling in the crowds.
What are the challenges ahead?
"I have been associated with the industry for the last 25 years. I have done more than 200 films. The last 10 years were a dark period for Pakistani cinema. But now we are building a new industry, which is established in Karachi. There are plenty of young directors, writers, actors, and musicians who are re-viving the whole industry. At this moment, there are three films run-ning in Pakistani cinema halls - Bin Roye, Wrong No, and Karachi Se Lahore. All three films are doing exceptionally good business at the box office, in front of Bollywood blockbuster Bajrangi Bhaijaan. I think co-production between India and Pakistan can be a game changer for Pakistani cinema," explained seasoned artist Javed Sheikh, who plays the role of a butcher in this commercial potboiler.
Wrong No is a romantic comedy film directed by Yasir Nawaz. The film had its premiere in Dubai last night and will release in the UAE today.
Watch out for the full interview with the cast and crew in City Times soon.
