Early alarm bells, busy mornings, stronger cups of coffees, roads packed with buses and children in uniforms - all signs point to the back-to-school season. Now that summer holidays are over, households with school-going children are buzzing again in the early morning with students and parents in a rush to get to school and work on time.
Some parents told Khaleej Times it'll take some time to fall back in the regular routine, but are glad their children are off receiving an education.
Over at Indian expat Shilpa Parmar's home, her 10-year-son will be waking up every day at 4.30am to get ready for school. "It'll take some time to get back into that routine we follow for school, but we'll get there," she said. "In the summer, we were going to bed every day around 12am or 1am because we were watching movies and spending time together. Now, it's back to sleeping and waking early.
"My son is very excited about going back to school. We spent these past two weeks shopping for him. He has new uniforms, shoes, stationary items, books and he has been eagerly waiting for school to restart so he can see his friends again. It's also good for us parents, because we'll get some time to ourselves."
A Pakistani mum, Heba Sajid, said her two daughters will probably fall back into the regular school routine after the first week is over. Sajid and her family just returned from Pakistan after the summer break and have been going to bed daily after 1am.
"That's just how it gets in the summer - the kids want to stay up late, they want to be with their friends and watch movies. The night before the first day of school, I always tell them to sleep early so they don't feel tired in the morning. But it takes time to get the sleeping routine fixed," she said. "But they are excited about returning to school. Kids start getting bored in the last few weeks of the summer break and wait for school to start again."
