Sharjah - Residents of Sharjah are much worried about the recent increase in such accidents, causing working parents to panic who leave their children with nannies and maids.

Parents negligence and lack of safety in high rise building behind the current increasing numbers of children falls from high levels, a recent study conducted by Sharjah police concluded.
Discussing the phenomenon in a lecture organized by Sharjah Police, Colonel Dr.Khalifa Kalandar, Director of police stations in Sharjah said that according to the recent study conducted by the police most of the cases occurred due to negligence and lack of safety in the design of the buildings, balconies and windows were unsafe for children and even adults.
Residents of Sharjah are much worried about the recent increase in such accidents, causing working parents to panic who leave their children with nannies and maids.
Most of the time the incidents caused immediate death and serious injuries that leads to permanent disability.
Dr Kalandar added that ensuring domestic safety and security are challenges that face families and parents who must be on alert all the time while children are moving around to protect them from accidents.
In order to minimize these kinds of accidents, stringent safety measures must be put on place. The concerned authorities must review the designs and drawing of building before issuing permission for construction. There must be intensified awareness among families and parents about these fatal accidents and incidents and how to avoid them.
Regarding cases where people jump from buildings to end their lives, he said that safety measures will not prevent it but there must be awareness of the phenomenon spread by communities.
