Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah inaugurated the eighth edition of the Sharjah Children's Reading Festival (SCRF) under the theme 'Shine Out' on Wednesday.
The Crown Prince was greeted with loud cheers from a group of children on his arrival. The youngsters then broke into a song to express their happiness at the launch of the leading literary festival.
Taking place over 11 days until April 30, the SCRF 2016 is hosting 1,518 cultural, educational, arts and entertainment events. It is seeing the participation of 130 publishers from 15 countries. Shaikh Sultan toured the festival's halls with its literary sections and stands, some of which have been allocated for publishers and others designated for the festival's many cultural seminars, training workshops, theatrical performances and music shows.
