King Salman is Islamic Personality of the Year

Dubai - "The humanitarian activities of King Salman are hard to count as he still provides support to disaster-hit countries, especially Islamic countries."

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia, was named the Islamic Personality of the Year at the 21st edition of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA).
Ibrahim Mohamed Bu Melha, adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs and head of DIHQA Organising Committee, made the announcement at a press conference late on Friday night at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
"The award has honoured a long list of esteemed Islamic characters and entities over the last 21 years. This year, King Salman bin Abdulaziz is on top of that list of historic leaders of whom the Islamic nation is proud of."
Naming King Salman the Islamic Personality of the Year is in recognition of his relentless efforts and orders to carry out the development projects of the Two Holy Mosques and sacred places, Bu Melha said.
The establishment of the King Abdulaziz Centre for Waqf Libraries in Madinah to preserve the Arab and Islamic heritage was among his major achievements, he said. "His constant efforts to unify the Arabs and Muslims to brave the challenges and circumstances that confront the Arab and Islamic nations speak volumes."
He has directly chaired and supervised a number of charitable societies for relieving the afflicted and needy people in the Arab and Islamic countries and the whole world, Bu Melha added.
"He has also established the King Salman Centre for Relief. The humanitarian activities of King Salman are hard to count as he still provides support to disaster-hit countries, especially Islamic countries."
