They will be deported after serving their jail terms.

The women include a 30-year-old Lebanese resident and a 36-year-old Bulgarian visitor.

Earlier, in its verdict on May 25 this year, the Court of First Instance had pronounced them guilty. The defendants had pleaded not guilty to the charges throughout the trial.

The women were charged with kissing and groping each other in public.

Eyewitnesses saw the two women getting intimate with each other on Al Mamzar public beach.

They felt provoked by what they saw, especially because there were families on the beach. They called the police shortly after.

The Lebanese woman was reportedly lying on top of the Bulgarian and the duo was cuddling and kissing in front of the beach-goers.

The case coincides with another case pending trial on the charges of consensual sex and public indecency involving two British nationals.

Michelle Palmer, 37, an executive at a publishing company and Vince Acors, 34, a visitor.

They could face up to six months in jail plus deportation if convicted.
