Being one of Dubai's largest public transportation systems, a lot of people take the Metro on a daily basis. That being said, it comes as no surprise that there are several rules and regulations surrounding it. Failing to follow these rules usually net people a fine.
Beyond rules, there are several manners that one is encouraged to follow while they are taking the metro. They may not be required, but they can surely spell the difference between having a peaceful metro ride and not. Here are some metro manners you ought to know.

DO fall in line beside the doors

Disaster always ensues when those that want to board the Metro block the way of those that want to alight. How many times have you been pushed and shoved in order to go out? To prevent this, RTA has marked areas beside the doors where boarding passenger must stand to give way to alighting passengers.

DO make way for passengers with luggage

When you have luggage, it's obvious that you want to place your bags inside the luggage carrier. The train comes and you have a wall of passengers blocking access to it. Instead of blocking their way, why not give them a hand? Nobody wants a luggage bag rolling all over the cabin. And since we're on the topic of luggage.

DON'T stand inside the luggage carrier

Are you luggage? No, right? Then you certainly have no business to sit inside the luggage carrier being protected from other passengers by its bounding walls. It also makes you come across as aloof. Other than that, you'll be embarrassed when someone with luggage asks for the space.

DO give the ladies and mums seating

The ladies do have their own section but it can only hold so much. To those that are left standing, why not offer them a seat? Not only do you make someone's day better, you also get to do your good deed for the day.

DON'T push and shove

In line with point #1, when you're on the train, don't push and shove everybody. A simple "excuse me" can go a long way. Sure you'll still be nudging, but at least you're nudging with respect.
