Dubai has once again shown the world what seven-star luxury is all about, as it gave a first glimpse into the sparkling Atlantis The Royal on Saturday.
The hotel — billed the ‘world’s most ultra-luxury resort’ — is opening to all on February 10.
It’s “a new architectural masterpiece” for the emirate’s tourism sector, said His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who visited the hotel on Saturday.
Standing 43 storeys high and spanning 406,000sqm, the new jewel on the Palm Island shines at a time when the emirate is working towards an ambitious economic target for the next 10 years. The Dubai government said this iconic landmark supports its D33 goal to strengthen the city’s position as one of the world’s top three cities for tourism and business.
Partnerships between the public and private sectors are at the heart of Dubai’s development vision, Sheikh Mohammed said.
“The UAE and Dubai seek to build on deep partnerships with the private sector to strengthen the country’s status as the world’s most popular destination for international tourists,” he said. “As part of our efforts to create a fertile ground for investors, we are keen to foster new growth opportunities in the tourism sector.”
Over the last few decades, Dubai has carved a name for itself in the luxury segment, with properties like the opulent Burj Al Arab and the world’s tallest tower the Burj Khalifa pulling in some of the most famous celebrities and global personalities. Such world-class infrastructure, coupled with an exceptionally safe environment, has “created the foundations for a remarkable future”, Sheikh Mohammed said.

With the star-studded launch parties it rolled out for its grand reveal, Atlantis The Royal does promise to be the next big thing for the world’s VVIPs.
Designed by leading international designers, architects and artists, the hotel is a 500-metre-long, 178-metre-tall mega structure shaped like Tetris blocks.
Inside, guests will be dazzled by fountains that breathe fire and infinity pools that will let them swim among the clouds.
Atlantis The Royal features a collection of 795 rooms, suites, and penthouses, and an array of celebrity chef restaurants.
It consists of six towers connected by a sky bridge, which — together with dramatically illuminated openings between each of its blocks — creates a stunning pattern on the skyline at night. The resort also features a unique sky garden concept.
Sheikh Mohammed toured the resort and was briefed on its interior design inspired by the Bedouin culture. The hotel celebrates how precious water is with stunning falls and sculptures.
Its unique location also gives guests two different types of waterfront views — the Arabian Gulf on one side and the sheltered lagoon of the Palm Jumeirah Island and the Dubai skyline on the other.
