In the presence of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, bestowed the ceremonial Mohammed bin Rashid's scarf upon Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Presidential Court, in recognition of his exceptional work in increasing the employment of Emiratis.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid affirmed that Sheikh Mansour is spearheading a number of vital files which are fundamental to the UAE's national affairs and strategies that aim to serve the interests of the country and its people.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid tweeted:
"The last of the files that my brother Sheikh Mansour took over was the employment of citizens. He was able to employ 28,000 citizens in just one year and raise their percentage in the private sector by 70 per cent within months. Mansour is one of Zayed's great extensions and one of the great pillars of the nation."
Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan is the Board Chairman of the Emirati Talent Competitiveness Council (Nafis) for his exceptional work in increasing the employment of Emiratis.
“With the presence of my brother, the President of the State — may God protect him — we honour today my brother Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed for his exceptional efforts in serving the United Arab Emirates,” Sheikh Mohammed said.
In November, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed had announced increasing the support for salaries of UAE nationals under the Emirati Salary Support Scheme to contribute to their recruitment and training costs in the private sector.
The support boosted the government’s campaign to integrate locals into the private and banking sectors workforce, including allowances, bonuses, and other monetary incentives for UAE nationals.
This was part of the Nafis federal programme to increase the competitiveness of Emirati human resources and empower them to occupy jobs in the private sector. Launched in September 2021, as part of 'Projects of the 50', the programme is expected to employ over 170,000 Emiratis over the next five years in the private and banking sectors.
As per Nafis, private sector firms in all sectors with 50 or more employees are mandated to raise their Emiratisation rate by 2 per cent of overall skilled jobs. Starting this month, those who fail to comply will have to pay Dh6,000 per month for each Emirati who is not employed.
