Firefighters of Ajman Civil Defence doused a raging fire which broke out at a garments warehouse in the industrial area Monday morning. No casualties have been reported during the accident. Speaking to Khaleej Times, Lt.Col Rashid Al Zaabi, deputy director of Ajman Fire Stations, said that they received a call at the operation room about the blaze early morning. The firefighters from various police stations immediately reached the site and brought the fire under control, while preventing it from spreading to the nearby warehouses and shops. He added that the firefighters' teams doused the fire in a short time and immediately started the cooling operation which continued for two hours. Al-Zaabi pointed out that after cooling operations, the site was handed over to the Ajman Police, which started its probe to ascertain the reason behind the blaze. He called on all owners of factories, workshops, and warehouses to comply with storage standards and safety procedures, to protect the lives of workers and prevent loss of property. He also praised the efficiency and rapid response of the firefighters' teams. Al-Zaabi thanked Captain Ali Hassan Marzouki and Lt. Majid Sultan Al Matrooshi, who were present at the accident site, to supervise the fire extinguishing operations. afkarali@khaleejtimes.com
