The criminal court in Dubai ruled that a 25-year-old man accused of slandering and insulting the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority will spend three months in jail and be fined for Dh500,000 for sending an insulting mail.
He will also be deported after serving his three-month jail term.
According to Al Khaleej, the case papers indicated that the man had sent an email from his account and mobile to the RTA. The email contained scathing ridicule and sarcasm of the authority regarding the fact that he had taken a driver's license test and had not passed. He was expressing his refusal to pay fees for the retest.
