The victim, identified as Lee Dharnman, had been staying in the hotel for the past seven months.
The hotel's staff discovered Lee's body lying in a pool of blood with a slit on his neck, police source added.
Police and Criminal Investigation Department officers rushed to the hotel immediately after the matter was reported.
“The body was covered in blood when we arrived at the crime scene. His neck was slit, but no sharp objects were found at the scene of crime. Finger prints were taken and the body was shifted to the forensic lab for tests,” police sources said.
Police sources revealed that Lee was accompanied by an unidentified man of Arab origin, when he returned to the room on Thursday at about 11pm. It is suspected the murder took place between midnight and 3.00am. The motive of the crime has not been established as yet.
The police did not reveal personal details of the deceased saying that the matter was under investigation. It is learnt that Lee was working in Dubai for a US-based tourism agency.
