Man gets a month in jail for stabbing a cop

A young man who attacked and stabbed a police officer was ordered by Fujairah Court of Appeals to stay behind bars for a month instead of paying a fine of Dh 1,000 as ruled by the lower court.
According to court documents, Fujairah government hospital received a policeman from CID after he was stabbed with a knife.
After being given the first aid, he said on interrogation that the suspect - K.H.G - was the one who knifed him when he tried to arrest him for being involved in a criminal case.
Policemen apprehended the suspect, and when confronted with the charges he had confessed to, adding that he did not know the victim was a CID cop.
He was referred to the Public Prosecution, which sent the file of the case to the Fujairah Court of First Instance, which slapped him with a fine of Dh 1,000. The Public Prosecution contested the verdict at the Court of Appeals, which sentenced him to one month in jail and overturned the Dh 1,000 fine ruling.
