An Arab man appeared at the Fujairah Misdemeanour Court on charges of hacking the website of a government entity in the emirate.
As per the sheet of indictment, the suspect, who worked at a customer service centre, managed to obtain access to the reported official site and tried to delete some data therein.
However, the IT teams of the government entity discovered the breach and tracked it down until they discovered the hacker involved.
The Fujairah Police, alerted of the hacking, launched investigations, and managed to arrest the customer service executive.
The manager of the centre, summoned for investigations, said she knew nothing about the online breach.
"I hired him (the suspect) one year ago, and gave him access to the government site since then to process official applications as licenced and permitted by the government entity."
The manager told the police and the prosecution that the defendant was the one behind the hacking bid.
The suspect denied any relation to the breach. "I did not hack anything," he told the court.
The Fujairah Misdemeanour Court ordered adjournment of the case to hear the prosecution and defence witnesses.
