A manager denied rape of a plastic surgeon in her hotel room in the Court of First Instance.
According to prosecution records, the 32-year-old Egyptian knew the Brazilian woman for some years and they were friends and had a business plan.
The incident happened a few hours after she arrived in Dubai.
The complainant, a 38-year-old, said that she knew the defendant since 2011 and had visited the UAE several times and gave the defendant $120,000 as she planned to open a beauty clinic.
"But that did not happen because he embezzled the money. I did not complain against him out of consideration for his sick mother whom I had treated in Brazil.
"The accused proposed to me in 2014 but I did not accept his offer because I live in my home country."
On March 13, she arrived at the Dubai International Airport and waited there for three hours and he did not pick her up as he promised.
"I tried to call him in vain. I booked a hotel room in the International City and took a cab."
She reached the hotel around 3 am.
"I sent him a message on WhatsApp to tell him I was fine and give him my address. He replied and asked me about my room number."
It was not long before she heard a knocking on the door.
'"It was him and I was surprised to see him coming to my room as I thought we would meet at a café or at the hotel reception."
He barged inside despite his resistance and he raped her.
"We asked her about the reason for reporting the incident after two days. She said she was confused and scared and that she did not know anybody in the UAE but him," a police lieutenant said.
The police arrested the defendant in Dubai Marina around 3:30 am on March 18.
"He claimed he did not know where she was staying. He also denied going to the hotel or having raped her," the lieutenant testified.
The forensic report showed that the defendant's DNA traces were found on the complainant's robe and undergarments.
The accused was caught on the hotel's CCTV cameras entering the building around 9:30 am.
