Snickers, Mars, Milky Way and Celebrations chocolate bars in the markets of Abu Dhabi are safe and meet the UAE standards, the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has said.
Earlier this month, chocolate giant Mars recalled these bars in 55 countries worldwide, including Holland, after the discovery of a piece of plastic in a bar produced in a company plant in Holland. Mars Netherlands recalled these bars from Dutch markets after the discovery.
Last week, Mars Gulf had made a "precautionary recall" of some of its chocolate products manufactured in the Netherlands in five GCC countries including the UAE. The recall did not affect the same brands produced locally.
Abu Dhabi's food regulatory body, in coordination with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, recalled the impacted batches of these products when it received an alert from the European Commission that some batches of these products had arrived in the UAE markets.
Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority said samples of these bars were tested in the emirate just as a precautionary measure to ensure safety. - Wam
