Firefighters put out a massive fire that erupted in a factory in the emirate’s industrial area on Tuesday afternoon. The factory, which assembles refrigerators and cooling machines, was gutted in the blaze but no casualties or injuries were reported.
Residents in the area, as well as those in the adjacent buildings, were immediately evacuated as the Ajman Civil Defence contained the fire.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Brig-Gen Muhammad Ali Jumeirah, director of fire stations at Ajman Civil Defence in said that thanks to the swift action of firefighters, the blaze destroyed only 30 per cent of the factory’s products and equipment.
The operation was carried out with the help of the Ajman Police patrols, he added.
Cooling operations are currently under way, after which the police shall begin the investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
