Nine-year-old Hananeh Mostafa Khalafi is a Quran genius who can answer any questions about the holy book and its verses. She has been mesmerising the audience of the Shaikha Fatima Bint Mubarak International Holy Quran Competition ever since she first took the stage.
If you recite a verse to her, she can accurately tell you the name of the chapter, the verse number and whether it was revealed in Makkah or Madina. "I can also tell you where exactly the verse is located in the Quran - at the top, middle or bottom of the page."
Khalafi learnt the Quran when she was just seven years old. "My father and mother helped me learn the Holy Quran this way.
"My three brothers have also memorised the Quran in full, but I am the only one gifted with this sharp memory."
Khalafi is one of the 72 memorisers taking part in the all-women Quran contest which will be on till November 18 in Dubai.
Another contestant, 23-year-old Farhana Jahfar Asnawi from the Philippines, gave birth to a baby boy just a month ago. "I am taking part in the contest although I have not recovered fully."
The beautiful recitation of 19-year-old Tausi Ndihokubwayo from Burundi has also inspired the audience. "I started memorising the Quran when I was 12 and finished it in three years."
