A minor fire was reported at The Address Hotel Dubai mall. It was extinguished immediately and the situation was back to normal.
A Dubai Civil Defence official told Khaleej Times that the fire started around 9:20 pm. As smoke billowed, the sprinklers got activated and the fire was brought under control. It was due to an electric short circuit on the 26th floor.

Earlier on New Year's eve, the The Address hotel in Downtown Dubai had caught fire, just as the much-awaited fireworks at the iconic Burj Khalifa were about to go off at the stroke of midnight, creating a pandemonium around the area.
The massive fireworks display kicked off near the world's tallest tower, while plumes of smoke still billowed in the air from the fire raging at the nearby tower.
The fire took almost 14 hours to tame, said Major-General Rashid Thani Al Matroushi, Director-General of Dubai Civil Defence.
Crowds that had gathered stood watching the spectacle helplessly as debris was seen flying off from the tower due to the strong winds.
The Dubai Police later pushed the crowds back and also evacuated The Dubai Mall by midnight. Many other revellers were stopped from approaching the vicinity of the hotel. Roads leading to the area were also cordoned off.
