Modi to carry 'invest in India' message

Abu Dhabi - The prime minister said in a statement on Thursday that he would seek to enhance cooperation in energy and trade during the August 16-17 visit.

Hailing the UAE's economic strides as extremely admirable, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made bare the purpose of his upcoming visit to the UAE - to convince the Emirati community and Indian diaspora that India is an attractive investment destination.
The prime minister said in a statement on Thursday that he would seek to enhance cooperation in energy and trade during the August 16-17 visit.
"I will hold extensive talks with His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, whose enlightened visions and farsightedness have taken the UAE to new heights of development.
"The UAE is a global economic success story that has attracted people from all over the world. The UAE has also emerged as an important logistics hub," Modi said.
Sources said a key focus area of talks is expected to be the Gulf country's estimated $800 billion sovereign wealth fund that India will seek to tap for infrastructure projects.
"I specially look forward to meeting the large community of Indian workers based in the UAE. No words will be enough to appreciate their hard work and sweat over the last many years," Modi said.
