His Highness Shaikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is going to launch the Mohammad bin Rashid library project on Monday, in a grand ceremony to be held at the Palazzo Versace hotel in Dubai.
The library, which is expected to house at least a million books, is deemed one of the most important tourist and educational projects in such a pivotal area of Dubai. It will be built in line with the green building standards.
The 66,600 square metre library will be located in Al Jaddaf area along the Dubai Creek.
The library will consist of a basement, a ground floor and seven storeys.
 It aims to serve the education and societal needs of Dubai. It will serve also as a reference of the Arabic language for the world, and a destination for the Arab world scholars. It will be a centre for intellectuals, poets, students and publishers as well.
It will feature internet services, various areas for open reading, a stage, a cinema, a visual and auditory library, a cafeteria, information centre, and a borrowing book section as well as external parking spaces.
The public library will be of the first libraries in the world in terms of technology and work programmes.
The building will be surrounded by a garden (greenery area) and spacious external yard.
