The Dubai Traffic Police fined a van driver for driving on the wrong side of the road with oncoming traffic near the Mirdif City Centre. Many motorists sent the police a photograph of the driver who was obstructing the traffic by driving into oncoming traffic. The police also found the van number plate to be placed upside down.
On being contacted, the owner of the van, an Asian, said he had just renewed his car registration and was not aware that its number plate was put upside down and he did not do intentionally .
Colonel Saif Muhair Al Mazroui said that the reckless driver came from Mirdif City Centre parking lot and then drove in the opposite direction blocking the oncoming traffic .
A police patrol which received calls from public intervened and fined the driver. He was advised to look at the road sign direction.
Al Mazroui said that some companies hire inexperienced drivers who are unaware of the roads and signage of the UAE roads and this leads to accidents.
