A motorist, who failed to give a sample for test with no justification, has been sentenced to two years in jail and deportation.
The Dubai Traffic Chief Prosecutor Advocate-General Salah Bou Farroucha Al Felasi said the motorist, a 35-year-old GCC national, has also been ordered to pay a Dh10,000 worth fine by the Traffic Court presided by Judge Abdel Fattah Al Akkari. "The convict drove a car on November 17 last year on Al Khail Road which had an expired registration card and invalid insurance policy. He failed to produce a driving licence when he was asked, evaded the police officers and drove in the wrong way".
Al Felasi said the Traffic Prosecution took necessary action, and after completing the investigation, referred the man to the Traffic Court as per the new amendment of the Federal Anti-Narcotics Law, which stipulated that he shall be sentenced to no less than two years in jail and a minimum of Dh10,000, worth of fine.
The chief prosecutor urged all motorists to be careful while behind the wheel, adding that the new law modifications have already come into effect, and to obey the instructions and orders of the policemen.
