Pimecrolimus Cream is a prescription-only eczema cream that does not contain steroids.

The cream was launched at medical seminars in Dubai and Abu Dhabi with international speakers addressing the issue of childhood and adult eczema to an audience of over 100 senior medical practitioners.

For more than 50 years, the source of medical relief for atopic eczema sufferers was with steroid-based creams, but these have been shown to damage and result in the thining of the layers of the skin in the long run.

Professor Kristen Thestrup-Pedersen, the Department of Dermatology, Aarhus University, Denmark, who spoke at the seminars, said: "Eczema can be a debilitating and painful condition that is particularly uncomfortable for children. Traditional anti-inflamatory treatments which have been around for many years have offered relief but the steroid base has been a cause of concern for many parents."
