New hospital in Abu Dhabi now fully functional

Abu Dhabi - Emergency department in Mafraq Hospital will close permanently.

The new emergency department in Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi has begun receiving patients from Thursday, according to authorities.
The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (Seha) said that with the new department now open, the emergency department in Mafraq Hospital will close permanently.
The inpatient wards in Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City were also activated, marking the full functioning of the UAE's largest hospital. In partnership with Mayo Clinic, a non-profit global leader in medical care, education and research, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City reflects Seha's commitment to medical excellence and the patient experience.
The new hospital is devoted to providing the community with world-class healthcare and medical services with its cutting-edge technologies in diagnostic and medical care and globally accredited professionals. Specialized services offered at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City cater to burns, trauma, orthopedics, reconstructive surgery, amongst others.
The new 723-bed facility in Abu Dhabi, which began operating in November, expands along 300,000sqm. The hospital was designed to provide world-class specialist care across a range of clinical practices.
The multi-speciality hospital, which caters to Emiratis and residents, also has two presidential suites and 36 VIP suites, an advanced wound treatment centre, 18 surgical rooms and a natural and premature birth department.
