The UAE has recorded no Covid-19 deaths in 24 hours for the third time this month. This came as the Ministry of Health and Prevention on Saturday reported 313 cases of Covid-19 and 393 recoveries.
Today's announcement takes the total number of cases to 58,562, while recoveries stand at 51,628. The death toll is 343.
Over 52,000 new Covid-19 tests were carried out, the ministry added.
On July 15, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, took to Twitter to announce that the country hadn't seen a single death due to Covid-19 in 24 hours. The country did not record any deaths from complications caused by the virus the next day either.
Thanks to mass testing, contact-tracing, isolation of patients and awareness drives, the UAE's Covid mortality rate of 0.6 per cent is considerably lower than the global average which is around 4.3 per cent.
Mass testing, in particular, has been crucial in flattening the curve. The UAE has introduced one of the world's most comprehensive testing and tracing regimes early on. With accelerated mass testing, the country has managed to carry out over 4.7 million Covid-19 tests.
Six emirates have announced free mass testing campaigns for Covid-19. Such drives have helped Abu Dhabi flatten the Covid-19 infection curve in several areas. In Mussafah, over 570,000 tests were conducted, helping fully contain the spread of the virus among residents, especially blue-collar workers.
