The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has launched a new initiative called 'NoL Express,' where NoL personalised cards will be issued for standard and gold class passengers. The Nol Express card will be issued within minutes with the help of the Emirates ID, scrapping the hassle of manually applying and completing the service application template at Metro stations, and waiting for 15 days to obtain it.
"The initiative conforms to the drive of the Dubai Government to bring happiness to people and make Dubai the smartest city in the world. It also echoes RTA's standing commitment to deliver an array of smart and excellent services to public transport riders, and its strong commitment to play a leading role in delivering services to people comprising all community segments," said Khaled Abdul Rahman Al Awadhi, director of automated fare collection, corporate technical support services sector of RTA.
"We have carried this initiative in collaboration with the Emirates Identity Authority aiming to streamline procedures of converting the Emirates ID card into a smart e-application by using the particulars of the customer entered in the Emirates ID card as a source of information needed for issuing the NoL card. The initiative has also been made possible thanks to the partnership with Enoc which has agreed to deliver the service all over its Zoom outlets at the Metro stations."
This service is considered the first of its kind worldwide for the issuance of public transport cards directly to applicants.
The service will be provided to users at no additional cost. During the first stage, it was launched through Zoom outlets at Burjuman and Al Fahidi Metro Stations. Eight outlets will be added by the end of November this year at eight metro stations namely Al Rashidiya, Salah Uddin, Deira City Centre, Al Qiyadah, Emirates Exchange, Mall of the Emirates, Union Square and Baniyas.
RTA is also considering the provision of this service at external locations in future.
