In a tragic accident at the Al Rams area in Ras Al Khaimah, a gulf citizen has died while other three in their twenties sustained moderate to serious injuries.
Col Ibrahim Mohammed Mattar, head of the Rams police station, said they were alerted about the accident by the central operations room of the RAK police on Friday at 2.30am.
"Traffic police patrols, ambulances, paramedics and rescue teams were immediately dispatched to Al Nakheel area, Al Rams and removed the crashed cars off the road."
The driver of the car was driving in the correct lane, but lost control, veered off the road and turned over several times, he added.
"The car rammed into the concrete road barrier, somersaulted several times, and one of the passengers could not make it and died on the spot. Three passengers, including the driver of the car, were hurt."
The corpse was shifted to the morgue of the hospital, while those injured were rushed to the Saqr Hospital.
Col Mattar urged all drivers to strictly observe traffic rules and regulations, mainly at road curves and roadworks, to ensure road users' safety and theirs. "Drivers are advised to drive at a low speed at road curves to have full control over their vehicles and remain safe."
