Over 1,000 accidents were reported across Dubai as sandstorms hit the UAE on Monday and Sunday. The police responded to over 16,000 distress calls in these two days.
According to the police, 413 minor to major accidents were recorded on Monday. The police received 6,830 calls from motorists on the day.
On the first day of the storm, the police recorded 631 traffic reports, including 12 serious ones and 20 moderate ones. The police responded to 9,125 calls on the day.
Most of the accidents were reported on the highways, including Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Zayed Road.
The police have urged residents to exercise caution while driving as the unstable weather is expected to continue till Friday. They urged motorists to abide by the traffic rules and speed limits and to leave sufficient and safe distance between vehicles.
