Motorists in Dubai have used the police app to report 101,119 minor traffic accidents since the start of the year. A top Dubai Police official called the service a "smart tool that cuts waiting time, saves efforts of police patrols and reduces traffic jams".
Brigadier Khalid Nasser Al Razooqi, Director of the General Department of Artificial Intelligence, said: "The service is simple and easy to use. It requires the driver to open the Dubai Police application, use the minor traffic accident reporting feature and enter the required data such as vehicle information, licence numbers of the accident parties, and photographs from the scene."
The officer stressed the importance of removing vehicles involved in the accident from the road before using the app to report it.
Brigadier Khalid also gave a tip to motorists to avoid traffic congestions caused by major accidents. They can use the police app's 'road status notification' service to take alternative routes.
