The Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) has launched a campaign to raise donations for flood victims in Pakistan.

Launched in cooperation with Dar Al Ber Society and the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities, the initiative allows UAE residents to send cash or in-kind donations for affected families.

Among the items that can be sent are tents, mattresses, beds, sleeping bags; blankets, bedding, sheets, mosquito nets; dry rations such as lentils, pulses, rice; new clothing, shoes, socks; hygiene essentials such as soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, towels, sanitisers; crockery and funds to build a house for the flood victims at the Pakistan Association Dubai’s premises.

All donated items should be properly packaged and in brand new condition.

Over 1,300 people have died and millions of people were displaced in the worst floods the South Asian country has ever seen, with a number of countries such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, the US, China and others offering support to the victims. The National Disaster Management Authority of Pakistan blamed record monsoon rains and melting glaciers in northern mountains for the floods.

How people in UAE can support:

  • Dh800 for a canvas tent of 4mx4m
  • Dh1,050 for a canvas tent of 4mx6m
  • Dh47 for PE tarpaulin of 15x15
  • Dh50 for PE tarpaulin of 15x18
  • Dh57 for PE tarpaulin of 18x18
  • Dh70 for PE tarpaulin of 18x24
  • Dh40 for a date box of 8kg
  • Dh110 for a food package (rice, sugar, flour, lentils etc.)

The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) and the Joint Operations Command of the Ministry of Defence of UAE are among the first to provide relief supplies, shelter material, humanitarian aid, food and medications to people affected by the floods.

“In the wake of the catastrophic floods which have wreaked havoc in Pakistan, Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD) has decided to mobilise our community to support our people back home", the Association said.

"PAD has initiated an emergency appeal for donations to support the flood victims. We request and urge our community to come forward and donate emergency shelter essentials.”

Dr Faisel Ikram, president of PAD, requested the community to come forward and donate generously to the cause.

“Pakistan is facing one of the worst natural disasters in history which has affected 33 million people, and left many displaced from their homes. We urge you to contribute in every way you can and lend a helping hand to our brothers and sisters back home,” Dr Ikram said.

Dr Ikram also appreciated the sincere efforts of the Government of Dubai for kindly facilitating the campaign and accelerating flood relief efforts on ground in Pakistan.

The Association assured that the contributions will be shipped to Pakistan through its reliable network on the ground, and will ensure that the donated essentials are carefully supplied to the flood-affected areas in Pakistan.
