"Emirates can confirm that flight EK782 from Lagos to Dubai on July 6 made minor contact with the aircraft of another carrier while taxiing," the statement says. The airline added that all passengers and crew members safely disembarked. "Passengers were provided overnight hotel accommodation and were flown to Dubai on other Emirates services on July 7," the statement added. According to Nigerian media reports, the other aircraft belonged to Hak Air, a Nigerian carrier which flies domestic routes. A Nigerian newspaper, the Daily Times, quotes a source as saying that the incident may have occurred because the international runway - known as 18Left - had safety issues at the time and was improperly lit. bernd@khaleejtimes.com
