The Dubai Police rescued an inspector, who fell into a fire extinguisher foam tank, on Thursday.
The Dubai Maritime rescue teams in cooperation with port patrols, the customs department and the Dubai ambulance, rescued the inspector who fell into a fire extinguisher tank at a dock near the Dubai Creek pier during an inspection visit.
Lieutenant Colonel Ali Al Qassaybi Al-Naqbi, head of the Marine Rescue Division, and Major Yaakoub Ishaq, surpervised the rescue operation.
Al-Naqbi confirmed that the rescue teams immediately rushed to the scene of the incident after receiving the information.
He pointed out that the fire extinguisher was 11 meters deep (36 feet) - containing water up to 4 meters (13 feet) when the inspector fell.
He pointed out that the rescue teams faced difficulty in extricating the inspector because of the lack of air inside the tank and a small opening, in addition to the presence of an internal landing pass from the top of the tank, which was not solid and couldn't bear the weight.
The rescue team held a quick meeting to figure out a safe rescue plan to remove the inspector. The trapped officer was was supplied with oxygen through a respirator.
Al-Naqbi explained that the rescue team entered the tank with 'pure air balloons' - and a large crane was used to remove the inspector and transfer him to the ambulance, where he was provided with the necessary medical treatment.
The inspector is in a stable condition, the official added.
