The iconic ship is back near the Ship Roundabout after it was reinstalled following facelift by the department of public works in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
The ship, made fully of wood, was removed from its place seven months back and underwent a thorough maintenance and renovation.
Sources said the 'Owls' ship, as it is locally known, is one of the key heritage treasures in the emirate. "The ship's maintenance was part of the department's tireless efforts to preserve our heritage."
The ship was pulled away from its location in October 2019.
"Some thought it has been removed forever, and that made them very upset as they had got used to seeing it at the place for years."
"Some thought that the roundabout will be replaced with an intersection controlled by a traffic signal as is the case with the Clock Roundabout."
"It is really good to see the iconic ship again at its place," an Emirati national Mohammed Ibrahim told Khaleej Times.
"This ship has been here for years and become a part of our life and history."
