Skimboarding, an alternative water sport, is getting popular in Dubai.
A Facebook group, Skimboarders of the UAE, serves a portal where skimmers arrange to meet up and check out which beaches have the best wave conditions for a skim.
The group also helps newcomers who are interested in trying out the sport, thus adding to the growing community.
Skimmers usually meet on weekends. Among their hot spots is Sand Bags Beach in Umm Suquiem which is not crowded and is ideal for wave riding. Those interested in trying out the sport are most welcome. They can just join the skimmers who are friendly and only eager to teach beginners.
Beach lovers looking to hang out with some friendly people are welcome to drop by anytime.
