The inaugural speech was delivered by Adel Khalil, Assistant Director-General of Childhood and Youth Centres. He said: "The Holy Quran is a message from Allah to humanity, and through the competition we are trying to inculcate into young memorisers' minds the importance of memorising the Quran rather than engaging themselves in trivial matters."

Highlighting the main objectives of organising the competition Mr Khalil explained: "Young memorisers should understand the verses of the Holy Quran they memorise and should learn from the messages. During the teaching process of Holy Quran recitation, we noticed that children were self-motivated and determined to memorise the verses ."
