Mohammed Ahmed bin Touq, Secretary General of the award said that invitations to participate in the competition were sent to 124 countries including Arab and foreign countries in addition to Muslim communities around the world.

"So far we have received nominations of 48 contestants and we have booked their tickets for Dubai from Syria, Iran, Egypt, Somalia, Benine, Chad, Kuwait, Bahrain, India, Bangladesh, Holland, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Yemen, Eritrea, Germany, Burkina Fasso, Gambia, Mali, Indonesia, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Cameron, Qatar, Ghana, Mauritania, Guatemala, Afghanistan, Morocco, Nigeria, Congo Barzvil, Tunisia, South Africa, Malaysia, Palestine, Bjibuti, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, Pakistan, Tanzania, Niger, Tuju, Tajkistan and Senegal, " Mr Bin Touq said.

He said that the designs for the new premises of DIHQA were ready and would be submitted to General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Minister of Defence, for approval. "The building will comprise two storeys, a ground and a first floor that will accommodate all sections and committees of the award."

Pointing to the development of the award instituted by Gen. Shaikh Mohammed seven years ago, Mr Bin Touq said that it had succeeded in drawing the attention of the entire Muslim world, particularly the young Muslim generation, and encouraging them to memorise the Holy Quran.

"This success was translated in the continuous expansion of the award which cover now eight branches including the international competition, the Islamic Personality of the Year, the programme of lectures, the local Holy Quran competition, the memorisation programme for prison inmates, the Quran memorisation centres, the special incentive programme for UAE Quran memorisers and the Quranic Studies Centre.
