Ras Al Khaimah hospital to have a new dialysis section

Ras Al Khaimah - The dialysis section at the Obaidullah Hospital is seeing more patients every year. "Up to 130 patients with kidney failure are visiting the section every month."

The New Shaam Hospital in Ras Al Khaimah will have a new dialysis section with advanced facilities.
According to the hospital authorities, the move is aimed at decreasing the load on the only dialysis section at the Obaidullah Hospital.
"Hopefully, the new dialysis section will also ease the suffering of the patients staying in the northern areas of the emirate," they said.
The dialysis section at the Obaidullah Hospital is seeing more patients every year. "Up to 130 patients with kidney failure are visiting the section every month."
However, the kidney clinic is seeing around 2,800 patients a year. "Dialysis patients hit 17,444 people in 2015."
The new dialysis section consists of three floors, and will be equipped with high caliber medical and technical cadres, they disclosed.
"The capacity of the hospital will be increased from 19 to 46 beds, including eight instead of three for patients with chronic diseases."
Saeed Rashid, an Emirati national from the Shaam area, said the much-awaited dialysis section will be an added value to the Shaam Hospital.
"Patients with kidney failure have to travel long distances to get treatment, but this suffering will be history with the new section."
Mohammed Ibrahim, another Emirati, said the northern areas of the emirate are in a dire need for this critical medical service.
"A relative of mine is suffering from kidney failure, and has to wait for a long time to get treatment at the only dialysis section available at the Obaidullah hospital."
Ali Qasim, also an Emirati, wished the new section would have more and advanced dialysis units to meet the pressing demand. "Hopefully, there will be a qualified and trained staff as well."
