A downpour that lasted about half an hour, hit Ras Al Khaimah on Tuesday afternoon, flooding valleys and creating waterfalls on the mountains.
For the emirate's residents, it was a scenery worth checking out. Families and young people rushed to the southern parts of Ras Al Khaimah to enjoy the view and the cool weather, a respite from the summer heat. Videos of the rain and the water rushing down the mountains went viral on social media.
"I have been following the weather bulletin to enjoy the rain with friends," said Ali Salem, an Emirati resident of Ras Al Khaimah.
Abdullah Saleh, another Emirati, said he and his friends immediately went to the mountains and valleys as soon as they learnt about the weather.
The rainshower mostly fell on the Asfi Valley, said Emirati Mohammed Ibrahim. "Heavy rain was also reported on the Barraq Valley, Asfini Valley, Kadra and Shawka."
Salem Khamis said the showers started at around 1.40pm and lasted about 35 minutes until 2.15pm.
The emirate's department of public works prepared pumping machines and tankers right away so they can clear roads if flooding occurs.
