The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai is seeking to 'eliminate use of paper' for all financial transactions, a top official has said.
The RTA has already launched smart electronic initiatives, which has cut down has cut down visitors to the finance offices by almost 50 per cent.
According to Ahmed Ali Al Kaabi, executive director of finance, Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector, RTA: "The Finance Department is seeking to automate financial transactions and all payment processes by eliminating the use of papers."
"The initial phase of the plan has yielded important deliverables in terms of slicing the number of visitors to the Finance Department by as much as 50 per cent, improving the compliance with the endorsed payments, enhancing the efficiency of budget planning and preparation, and offering decision makers advanced electronic tools empowering them better management of resources," added Al Kaabi.
The new system intended for internal and external customers of the RTA involves 23 initiatives for the online transactions using state-of-the-art paperless technologies.
"Such initiatives span a host of key aspects of financial transactions such as the endorsement of automated payments, budget preparation and monitoring system, online supply and payment processes (paperless initiative), and a smart pre-payment audit system," added Al Kaabi.
"The plan includes other initiatives aimed at reducing visiting customers by 80 per cent, offering financial data through smart phones, and automating several services," said Al Kaabi.
