Just a few moments before fire engulfed a school bus in Sharjah on Tuesday morning, its driver managed to evacuate all students on board. No one was reported hurt in the incident, which happened in Kalba area.
"The well-trained driver has saved the life of all students on the bus," sources at the Ministry of Education said. "Another bus was sent to the site to transport the students to their school."
The three students on board alerted the driver to some unusual heat coming from under the bus. He immediately took them out of the bus and called the Civil Defence department.
The fire erupted in Al Saf area in Kalba at 6:39am.
As soon as they received the report, the central operations room of the Sharjah Police dispatched firefighters, ambulances, paramedics, and rescue teams.
The surrounding area was cordoned off as the flames were put out in two minutes.
The fire completely destroyed the bus, authorities have found.
An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the blaze.
