As many as 600 school bus drivers from Emirates Transport took part in an awareness workshop on safe driving habits to be followed during unstable weather conditions, on Tuesday.
The workshop, held at Al Reyada School, was organised by the Media Committee School Transport in Abu Dhabi.
The traffic management and patrols department at the Abu Dhabi Police delivered a lecture on safe driving in unstable weather, with tips for driving properly and avoiding stress and accidents. Drivers were told about ways to tackle possible challenges on the road.
The workshop reviewed the general guidelines for safe driving during fog, rain and storms and the importance of adhering to speed limits and leaving adequate distance between vehicles.
This initiative aims to promote awareness among drivers and is held at the beginning of semester. Similar workshops will be held for bus drivers in private schools.
