His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, honored 40 entities and individuals of the Arab Social Media Influencers Summit (ASMIS) Award on Tuesday.
Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai; His Highness Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, deputy ruler of Dubai, and the Chairman of Dubai Media Incorporated; and His Highness Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum attended the award ceremony, that took place during the summit's first day at Dubai World Trade Center.
The award recognizes innovations by individuals and institutions who made a positive impact on the development and prosperity of their communities, while contributing to the progress and development of people.
Focusing on the three main areas of connectivity, creativity and impact, the award winners were announced in 20 different categories for individuals and institutions.
Lt. General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Interior, was awarded in the individuals and institution category for the government sector, while Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs was awarded for the politics category.
The general public also voted for Mustafa Agha, Head of MBC sports as their favorite Arab social media influencer in the newly introduced "Audience choice" category.

1. Government sector category: Lt. General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Interior
2. Youth category: Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa is a member of the Bahraini royal family and the commander of Bahrain's Royal Guard and president of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
3. Tourism category: Shaikh Majid Al Sabah, Kuwaiti Royal social media influencer known as "The Shaikh of Chic.
4. Politics category: Dr Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.

On its second edition, the summit attracted more than 2,500 social medial influencers and prominent social media figures from the region and around the world.
About 54 speakers shared their experiences and highlighted success stories of positive use of social media over the two-days of the second edition of the summit.
This year's edition included various styles of sessions, one of which is 'Dardachat', which are 15 minutes sessions hosting prominent Arab and international social media influencers. The speakers lineup at the event include Sheikh Majid Al Sabbah, known for his informative and interactive presence on Snapchat; Dr Travis Stork, celebrity and host of the international TV show The Doctors; Ola Al Fares, one of the active social media influencers in the humanitarian field and Hussain Al Jassmi, popular Emirati singer.
