| Shaikh Mohammed's Landmark initiatives that changed the world 2007 Dubai Cares, September 20: Shaikh Mohammed launched the Dubai cares campaign to raise money to educate 1 million children in poor countries. the campaign was Dubai's contribution to the UN Millennium Development Goals for providing primary education to every child by 2015. 2008 Arab Centre for philanthropy, January 21: Shaikh Mohammed launched the Arab centre for Philanthropy, seeking to mobilise strategic giving and promoting coordination among various arab philanthropic programmes. Universal museums, May 10: Shaikh Mohammed announced the launch of the universal Museums project, which brought together leading collections by globally-recognised museums for the first time ever. Noor Dubai, September 3: Ramadan initiative called Noor Dubai launched to help the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the international agency for the Prevention of Blindness (iAPB) in achieving its goals outlined in vision 2020: the right to sight 2009 Government excellence programme, June 29: Vice-President launched the Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Government excellence Programme. 2010 My Government initiative, October 7: My Government initiative, an integrated portal to connect directly with clients dealing with the federal government entities, launched. 2011 Centre for Cultural understandinG, December 28: Centre for cultural understanding, a non-profit organisation established to increase awareness and understanding between the various cultures that live in Dubai, launched. 2013 M-Government, May 22: Shaikh Mohammed announced the post e-Government era with the launch of the Mobile Government (m-Government) initiative, marking a significant breakthrough in the delivery of government services to the public through their mobile phones. 2014 UAE Suqia, June 25: UAE Suqia initiative (charity water) launched to provide clean drink-ing water to five million people worldwide. National innovation strategy, October 19: National innovation strategy launched to make the UAE among the most innovative nations in the world within seven years 2015 Smart Saada Health Insurance, June 2: Smart Saada Health Insurance, targeting about 130,000 citizens, launched Arab Reading Challenge, September 16: Arab Reading Challenge launched. It was the largest project to encourage students in the Arab world to read, with more than a million students committing to read 50 million extracurricular books during every academic year. |
