His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, honoured the 14 winners of the 15th edition of the Arab Journalism Award, in a ceremony held at the conclusion of the Arab Media Forum (AMF) at Dubai World Trade Center on Wednesday. 
Shaikh Mohammed presented the Media Personality of the Year Award to Abdulrahman Al Rashed, the former General Manager of Al Arabiya News Channel in recognition of his eventful career and contribution to Arab media landscape. 
Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai handed the Best Newspaper Column Award to Khalid Al Ariss, a Lebanese journalist who moved from being a set designer to a renowned assistant director and critic. 
He also presented the Smart Journalism Award to Hespress, an electronic Moroccan newspaper. 
Those present at the awarding ceremony included Shaikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Secretary-General of the Arab Journalism Award and Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the AMF; as well as a large number of senior officials and Arab media personalities. 
Other award winners were: 
- Investigative Reporting Award: Huda Zakaria and Mohammed Al Mandarwai of Al Youm Al Sabaa Newspaper (Egypt) 
- Political Journalism Award: Abdullah Al Madani from Al Ittihad Newspaper (UAE) 
- Humanitarian Journalism Award: Naeema Al Suraidi of Almaghrib Today Newspaper (Morocco). 
- Specialized Journalism Award: Al Khaleej Newspaper team (UAE) 
- Sport Journalism Award: Reda Saleem of Al Ittihad Newspaper (UAE) 
- Cultural Journalism Award: Mustafa Shaaban of Al Ahram Magazine (Egypt). 
- Economic Journalism Award: Osama Jalal of Kuwait News Agency (Kuwait) 
- Press Interviews Journalism Award: Faisal Saeed Al Alawi of Al Watan Newspaper (Oman) 
- Photo Journalism Award: Mohammed Ali Turkman of Reuters (UK) 
- Outstanding Cartoon Works Award: Mowafak Roshy of Skynews Arabia (UAE). 
The Young Journalist Awards: Ayat Al Hebal of Al Masri Al Youm (Egypt), Abeer Issa of Kul Al Usra Magazine (UAE), and Halima Abrouk of Akhbar Al Youm Newspaper (Morocco). 
During the ceremony, renowned Iraqi singer Kathem Al Saher performed a poem by Shaikh Mohammed titled "Hope". The poem revolves around having hope for the future of the Arab region that currently stands at a critical point. The poem predicts that the Middle East will regain its glory and resume its leadership.
