Shaikh Mohammed opens Dragon Mart 2; visitors thrilled

Shaikh Mohammed and Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, take a tour of Dragon Mart 2 on Tuesday. The extension is all set to offer a new shopping experience.

Dubai - The extended mall comprises 1,100 shops, Novo Cinemas, Geant Supermarket, two hotels and 1,120 apartments.

Dubai's very own China Town - Dragon Mart - just got an extension. On Tuesday night, His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of UAE and the Ruler of Dubai opened Dragon Mart 2 in a glittering ceremony attended by several dignitaries from Nakheel and other government departments.

Shaikh Mohammed visited some of the stores at the shopping mall causing a lot of commotion and excitement among mall visitors, who were trickling into the mall to get a glimpse of the newly opened stores.The extended mall comprises 1,100 shops, Novo Cinemas, Geant Supermarket, two hotels and 1,120 apartments.

Visitors of the mall said that the mall has excellent shopping and dining options.Lee Wei, a Chinese national and resident of Dubai said: "The mall is very spacious. Even though Dragon Mart 1 has excellent shopping options, it is very congested. However, Dragon Mart 2 is very big and is great for people who enjoy spending long hours in the mall."

Nakheel has tripled the retail space in the mall several new shops of famous as well as lesser known Chinese and other Asian brands.The extension is looking to service residents of International City and Academic City. Geant has also opened its third largest supermarket after Yas Mall and Ibn Battutta Mall.
